Luke Christopher Schiffer
Luke Christopher Schiffer was born and passed away August 17, 1998, in Roanoke, Virginia.
Luke is survived by two sisters, Christine and Laura, and his parents, Bill and Cindy, all of Marlinton, and his maternal grandparents, Elmer and Marilyn Dimmel, of Austin, Minnesota.
Interment will be at Smith's Mill Cemetery, Smith's Mill, Minnesota.

William S. Phillips
William S. Phillips, age 89, of Spencer, died August 11, 1998, in Roane General Hospital after a long illness.
He was a retired foreman from Monarch Rubber Company and was a farmer.
Surviving him are his wife, Jenny Rakowski Phillips; daughters, Annabelle McClain, Patty Ice, and Carolyn Nichols, all of Marlinton; sons, Jackie B. Phillips, of Marlinton, Gary Phillips, of Evans, Bobby Phillips, of Reedy; stepson, Paul D. Richards, of Spencer; sixteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, by the Rev. Randy Whited. Burial was in Swank Cemetery, near Spencer.

Oscar W. Ward, Sr.
Oscar W. Ward, Sr., of Fresno, Ohio, age 67, died August 10, 1998, in a Coshocton, Ohio, hospital.
Born December 28, 1930, in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Arrow G. Ward and Ada Maye Patton Ward.
Mr. Ward was a retired machinist and was a volunteer for many years with the Food Bank of Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Lucille Ward, on May 13, 1996, and two sisters, Lennie Varner and Joy Patton.
Survivors include a daughter, Dreama Woodby; two sons, Oscar Ward, Jr., of Cleveland, and Robert Ward, of Aurora, Ohio; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three brothers, Elmer Patton, of Hinton, Junior Patton, of Buckeye, and Donald Barkley, of Denton, North Carolina; three sisters, Betty Lovelace, of Thomasville, North Carolina, Dorothy Tyree, of Trinity, North Carolina, and Sue Conley, of Buckeye.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, Ohio. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown.
