Rev. Coy Mathews, of Marlinton, died Tuesday, January 19, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.

Whitman Hull

Luther Whitman Hull, age 80, of Harrisville, died December 31, 1998, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 19, 1918, in Durbin, a son of the late C. Forrest and Laura Hudson Hull.
He graduated from Green Bank High School and from WVU with a degree in education. He was a teacher, coach and principal in West Virginia, Virginia and Georgia for 19 years and former Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Pocahontas County, serving from 1970 to 1980. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Edna Smith Hull; one sister, Hazel Bennett, of Parsons.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Hudson and Donald; and two sisters, Hope Mallow and Louise Gochenour.
Graveside service was held at Ellenboro Masonic Cemetery.

Trooper Douglas Bland

Trooper Bland was born on November 14, 1972, at Union, the son of Jack L. and Peggy Wickline Bland, of White Sulphur Springs.
He was a 1991 Graduate of Greenbrier East High School, received his Associate Degree from Bluefield State College, and was a graduate of the 44th Cadet Class of the West Virginia State Police Academy.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Colette Carter Bland; a brother, Steve Bland, of Sinks Grove; a sister, Lynn Bland, of White Sulphur Springs; and grandmother, Bessie Bland, of White Sulphur.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Bland.
Services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the White Sulphur Springs Civic Center with the Rev. Roy Bill Carter, the Rev. Bill Gilliland, and State Police Chaplin Ron Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the Carmel Cemetery at Gap Mills.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the civic center.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Scholarship Fund of the West Virginia Troopers Association.

Terry E. Armentrout

Terry E. Armentrout, 70, of Manassas, Virginia, died December 11, 1998, at the Washington House in Alexandria, Virginia.
He was born in Durbin on July 26, 1998, the son of Arthur and Leasel Armentrout.
Mr. Armentrout was a psychiatric social worker in the Prince William (Virginia) School system until illness forced his retirement in 1991.
Survivors include a brother, Luke Armentrout, Sr., of Canton, Ohio.
A memorial service was held on December 14 at the Everly- Wheatley Funeral Home in Alexandria. A graveside service was held on December 15 at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cumberland, Maryland.
