Flora Bell Armstrong

Flora Bell Armstrong, age 78, of Buckeye, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Armstrong was a skilled pianist and active entertainment volunteer for Pocahontas Senior Citizens Center and Pocahontas Center, and was a member of Swago Farm Women's Club, VFW Auxiliary, and a 4-H Adult Counselor. She was a retired school cook and a member of Swago United Methodist Church. She was born in Monongalia County March 14, 1922, the daughter of the late Rev. Roland Henry Skaggs and Laura May White Skaggs. Mrs. Armstrong was the widow of John C. Armstrong. Also preceding her in death were four infant siblings and six brothers, Tom Skaggs, Francis Skaggs, Earl Skaggs, Richard Skaggs, Roy Skaggs, and Dan Skaggs. Surviving her are three sons, the Rev. L. Roland Armstrong, of Durbin, Larry Paul Armstrong, of Buckeye, and Danny Wayne Armstrong, of Caldwell; a sister, Zelma Ruth Keen, of Marlinton, and a brother, Paul Skaggs, of Lorraine, Ohio; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Monday at the Edray United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jay Hicks, with burial in the Armstrong Cemetery at Buckeye.
