Elizabeth Clark Beard

Elizabeth Clark Beard, age 91, of Welaka, Florida, formerly of Hillsboro and Lewisburg, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Putnam Community Medical Center, Welaka, after a long illness.
Mrs. Beard was a former teacher at Hillsboro High School. She was a member of Old Stone Presbyterian Church, Lewisburg, and former member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, and active in Women of the Church.
Born October 4, 1908, at Grafton, she was the daughter of Frank Arthur and Lula (Leith) Clark.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Matthew Lee Beard, Jr., and Henry Harper Beard.
Surviving her are a daughter, Betty Beard Dorman, of Greensboro, North Carolina; a son, Jacob Wilson Beard, of Live Oak, Florida; a brother, John Arthur Clark, of Northfield, Minnesota; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Friday afternoon at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, by the Rev. Susan Sharp Campbell.

Fred Crews

Fred Crews, age 94, of Crab Orchard, died April 9, 2000, after a short illness.
He was a retired tipple foreman and mechanic at Stokesbury, Crab Orchard, and Maben. He was a member of UMW, and a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church.
Surviving him are two sons, James F. Crews, of Arbovale, and Earl Ray Crews, of Greensboro, North Carolina; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held 11 a. m. Tuesday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Prosperity, with burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Hazel White McKeever

Hazel White McKeever, age 83, of Hillsboro, died Monday, April 10, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington.
Mrs. McKeever was a member of the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church at Hillsboro.
Born March 15, 1917, in Hinton, she was a daughter of the late Blaine and Keturah Candace White.
She was the widow of Ray McKeever. Also preceding her in death were four brothers, James, Bernard, Paul, and Maynard White.
Survivors include her five children: sons, Shelton McKeever, of East Ellijay, Georgia, Ralph McKeever, of Lewisburg, Marion McKeever, of Roanoke, Virginia, and Wayne McKeever, of Sistersville; a daughter, Elanora, of Milton; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Cole, of Frankford; and two brothers, William White, of Cottageville, and Raynard White, of Frankford.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p. m. at VanReenen Funeral Home in Marlinton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday at VanReenen Funeral Home by the Rev. Paul Goehner. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
