Jean P. Ervin

Jean Gray Pusey Ervin, 83, of Baltimore, Maryland, died August 3, 2001.
She was born at Renick, the daughter of Delbert Zedock and Ada Emma Bobbit Pusey, and grew up in Cass.
She married Leland (Hap) Ervin and in 1945 the family moved to Baltimore.
Survivors include one son, Leland E. Ervin, of Missouri; one daughter, Barbara Jean White, of Maryland; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Ada Louise Ervin; four sisters, Shirley Galord, Margaret Neighbors, Gertrude Thompson, and Neoma Hinkle; five brothers, Jack Pusey, Buck Pusey, Bud Pusey, Bea Pusey, and Jim Pusey.

Ethel E. Barlow

Ethel E. Barlow, 96, formerly of Marlinton, died at her home in Elkins on Tuesday.
Funeral service will be on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Marlinton Presbyterian Church with Pastor Robert Mann officiating. Burial will be in Cochran Cemetery.

James Henry Kelley

James Henry Kelley, age 76, of Cass, died Monday, October 8, 2001, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.
Kelley had been a State Road worker and a logger. He was a Methodist. He served in the Army in the Korean War.
The son of the late Eugene and Anna Clark Kelley, he was born at Wesley Chapel August 23, 1925.
Surviving him are two daughters, Barbara Darlean Fleckenstein, of Callicoon, New York, and Deloris Jean Turner, of Cass; four sisters, Rhoda Fertig, of Greenville, Pennsylvania, Ruth Saunders, of Mentor, Ohio, Lou Smith, of Euclid, Ohio, and Annette Elza, of New Coney, Texas; five brothers, Loren Kelley, of Green Bank, Walter Kelley, of Clover Lick, Robert Kelley, Eastlake, Ohio, Newt Kelley, Kirtland, Ohio, and Ted Kelley, of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Two brothers, Bernell Kelley and Arlie Kelley, are deceased.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at VanReenen Funeral Home by Michael Bond. Burial will be at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Raymond R. Wolfe

Raymond R. Wolfe, age 61, of Cass, died Saturday, October 13, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was a logger with his family and the Grimes Family Logging Companies and was also a truck driver for Daniel Construction Company. He also worked on the Cass Scenic Railroad, Snowshoe Resort and had worked for the City of Dallas, Texas.
Wolfe was born February 11, 1940, in Highland County, Virginia, and was the son of Alva Harper Wolfe, of Cass, and the late Viola Hise Wolfe.
Surviving him are Mary Wolfe, of Cass, his wife of 34 years; three daughters, Pamela Wade and Brenda Nottingham, both of Dunmore, and Sharon Wolfe, of Cass; four sisters, Evelyn Turner, of Durbin, Alice Meade, of Cass, Charlotte Elza, of Dunmore, and Marie Fultz, of Marlinton; four brothers, Clayton Wolfe, of Dunmore, Henry Wolfe, of Cass, Roger Wolfe, of Manassas, Virginia, and Lee Wolfe, of Green Bank; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale by the Rev. Julian Rittenhouse.

Billy Warren Hannah

Billy Warren Hannah, age 78, of Mustoe, Virginia, died Thursday, October 11, 2001, at Reston Hospital, following a heart attack suffered while visiting his sister in northern Virginia.
He was born near Slaty Fork on October 14, 1922, a son of Hugh Amos and Levie Sabina Hannah.
He entered the United States Coast Guard on October 8, 1942. He saw World War II service in Hawaii, the Marshall Islands, and California before being discharged on November 11, 1945. He re-enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1948, serving about two years, then worked again for Hannah Lumber and was also employed by The Homestead.
Hannah is survived by two sisters, Lucille H. Lahti, of Herndon, Virginia, and Hazel H. Corbett, of Mustoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marjorie Collins and Ethel High; two brothers, Hubert and Fred Hannah; and his son, Bruce Hull Hannah.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Donald Rose at Obaugh Funeral Home on Monday, followed by burial in Monterey Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County Rescue Squad, Monterey, Virginia, or charity of choice.

William L. Hill

William "Bill" L. Hill, age 71, of Mill Creek, formerly of Charleston and more recently a patient at the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, died Friday, October 12, 2001, at the center.
He was an electrician working for the Volkswagen Stamping plant at South Charleston until his medical retirement.
He was born November 1, 1929, in Charleston, a son of Amma Hill Pauley, of Charleston.
On March 4, 1951, he was married to the former Betty Eskey, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Stephen W. Hill, of Valley Bend, and David Hill, of Huntersville; one daughter, Tellisa Hill, of Elkins; one brother, Cebert Pauley, Jr. five sisters, Wilma Sowards, Allie Mollohan, Shelby McCormick, Wanda Gillispie, and Donna Fizer, all of the Charleston area; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday at the Lohr-BarbVance Funeral Home in Elkins by the Rev. Frank Long. Burial was in the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1200 Quarrier Street, Charleston.

Leda Gray Williams

Leda Gray Williams, age 56, of Martinsburg, died Monday, October 15, 2001, at her home.
Born January 21, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Lorraine and Delphi Williams and was the step-daughter of Lewis Dale Boggs, of Marlinton.
She graduated from Duquesne University with honors. Later she moved to California, where she attended the University of California at Los Angeles and recevied her degree in law and started her own law practice.
In 1994 she moved to Marlinton and started teaching at Marlinton Elementary School. Later she relocated to Martinsburg where she taught at Mussleman Junior High School.
Surviving her are two sisters, Dellaro Watson, of Rancho Cucamonga, California, and Lorraine Williams, Ontario, California; four brothers, Delphi Wlliams, Forrest Boggs, and Darwin Lee Boggs, all of Marlinton, and Robert Williams, of Pamona, California.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Boggs.
The family willl receive friends at the Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg on Friday, October 19, at 4 p. m.

Mary Jane VanReenen

Mary Jane Buzzard VanReenen, age 49, of HC82, Marlinton, died Sunday, October 14, 2001, at home after an extended illness.
Mrs. VanReenen was a dental assistant-medical secretary. She was a member of Cummings Creek Victory Chapel and a member of the Chapel's Women's Circle.
She was born June 29, 1952, at Marlinton, the daughter of William H. Buzzard and the late Lillian Bancroft Buzzard.
In addition to her mother, a brother, Loren Stanley Buzzard, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas G. VanReenen; a son, Jared Lee Cain, of Jacksonville, Florida; her father; one sister, Linda Buzzard Coleman, of Jacksonville, Florida; and two brothers, William D. Buzzard, of Newcastle, Virginia, and James A. Buzzard, who lives on Beaver Creek.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. Saturday by the Rev. Norman Lee Alderman at the Cummings Creek Victory Chapel. Burial will be in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday night from 6 to 9 at VanReenen Funeral Home.
