Georgia Pearl Hutchings

Georgia Pearl Sharp Hutchings, age 82, of Austin, Texas, died Wednesday, October 24, 2001.
She was born August 21, 1919, at Fairview, near Marlinton, the daughter of Dency Eddie and Gosha Lena Underwood Sharp.
She married Millard L. Hutchings, Jr., on January 26, 1946; he preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Mary Tersigni.
Surviving her are three sons, Bobby L. Hutchings, of Pflugerville, Texas, Dency M. Hutchings, of Katy, Texas, and Terry S. Hutchings, of Round Rock, Texas; a daughter, Wanda Walker, of Midland, Texas; five grandchildren; two brothers, Dice Sharp, of Marlinton, and Dency Sharp, Jr., of Canton, Ohio; and three sisters, Violet Banton, of Durbin, Myra Blankenship and Betty McPaters, both of Marlinton.
Graveside services were held Saturday at Old Round Rock Cemetery, Round Rock, Texas, by her pastor, Dr. Jim Rigby, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.

Anna Grace Ware

Anna Grace Ware, age 79, of Green Bank, died Saturday, October 27, 2001, at the White Sulphur Springs Family Care Center, following a long battle with cancer. She had been a resident at the Care Center since April.
Mrs. Ware was retired from the National Radio Astronomy Observatory at Green Bank. She was an active member of Cass Chapter No. 124, Order of Eastern Star, where she recently received a lifetime membership and pin. She served in various offices, including Worthy Matron. She was a member of Liberty Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Ware was born September 27, 1922, near Marlinton, the youngest child of the late Adam C. and Grace Burner Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence J. "Tony" Ware, infant son, Keith Edward Ware, a brother, Glen C. Moore, and a sister, Alma Gibson.
Surviving her are two sons, Julian Ware, of Princeton, and Robert Ware, of Lewisburg; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at VanReenen Funeral Home on Tuesday morning by the Rev. David Rittenhouse. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery.

Virginia Dare Pritt Combs

Virginia Dare Pritt Combs, age 80, of Droop, died Thursday, October 25, 2001, at Greenbrier Manor, Fairlea, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Combs was retired from the kitchen of Denmar Hospital and was a Baptist.
Born March 22, 1921, in Bath County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Liza Pritt.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Ralph Combs, her mother, and a sister, Ireta J. Jeffries.
Survivors include a son, Larry Combs, of Droop, and a sister, Beulah Pritt, of Buckeye.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at VanReenen Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Moore, with burial in the Ruckman Cemetery, Buckeye.

Wanda Gale Nelson

Wanda Gale Nelson, age 67, of Canton, Ohio, died Thursday, October 25, 2001, in a Canton hospital, after a long illness.
Born October 19, 1934, in Marlinton, she was the daughter of the late Forest and Lillian Dilley Beverage.
She had been a resident of Canton for many years, was a member of the Presbyterian faith, an Eastern Star member, and was retired from the Credit Union of Sugardale Processing Company in Canton.
Her husband, John A. Nelson, and her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving her are two step-sons, Gary Nelson and Terry Nelson, both of Canton; two sisters, Betsy (Betty) Holt, of Ronceverte, and JoAnn VanReenen, of Marlinton; two brothers, Earl Dilley, of Orient, Ohio, and Charles Dilley, of Charleston.
Graveside services by the Rev. Randy Benson and burial were held Monday in Mountain View Cemetery, Marlinton.

Dick Reed Griffin

Dick R. Griffin, of Baltimore, Maryland, died Saturday, October 20, 2001, after a short illness.
Born August 1, 1925, he was the son of the late Forrest and Mae Lowe Griffin.
His parents, a sister, Gladys Griffin, and two brothers, Raymond Griffin and Clyde Griffin, preceded him in death.
He was the father of Calvin and Bryon Griffin, brother of Mabel Rexrode, Shelby Rusokoff, and Everett Griffin, and grandfather of two.
Griffin was the nephew of Ida Carpenter and brother-in-law of Charlotte Griffin, of Dunmore.
Services were held in Baltimore and burial was in Crownville, Maryland.

Virginia L. Sigler

Virginia L. Sigler, age 89, of Kimberly, died October 1, 2001, at home.
She was born July 6, 1912, at Arbovale, the daughter of the late Luther and Sadie Shears.
Her husband of 72 years, Leonard Sigler, two sons, Leonard and Joey, and a daughter, Judith, preceded her in death.
She was a 40-year member of Kimberly Church of God.
Surviving her are sons, David Sigler, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Pete and Bruce Sigler, both of Summersville, Terry Sigler, of Kimberly; daughters, Dorla Carr, of St. Albans, Jean Hundley, of Hugheston, Mary Goodwin, of Solomons Island, Maryland, Sue Mayes, of Chesterton, Indiana, Barbara Childers, of Elizabeth; brother, Vance Shears, of Powellton; 29 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held October 4 at Kimberly Church of God by the Rev. William Smith. Burial was in Montgomery Memorial Park, London.

Jessie A. Mace

Jessie A. Mace, age 92, of Mace, died Monday, October 29, 2001, at her home, of natural causes.
She was born in Fairmont May 19, 1909, and was a member of the Mace United Methodist Church.
She was married to Herbert Troy Mace April 27, 1930. He departed this life seven weeks ago on September 9, 2001.
Surviving her are two sons, Herbert D. Mace, of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, and Keith Mace, of Mace; two daughters, Naomi Reed, of Barberton, Ohio, and Shirley Laraway, of Toledo, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday evening, November 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Mace United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p. m. at the Mace United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Baer, with burial at Mingo.
