Sarah Nelson
Sarah Nelson, of Hopewell, Virginia, died February 7, 2002, in John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell.
Sarah was born April 15, 1923, in Marlinton. She attended Wesley United Methodist Church for over 40 years and was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. She was also a well-known seamstress in the Tri-City area.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Nelson, and parents, Harmon and Hattie Shinaberry.
She is survived by one daughter, Dawn Adams, of Petersburg, Virginia; two sons, Steve W. Nelson, of Petersburg, and Alan L. Nelson, of Chester, Virginia; two sisters, Betty Sharp, of Enon, and Mary Crone, of Mt. Airy, Maryland; two brothers, Harmon Shinaberry, of Earlysville, Virginia, and Jimmie Shinaberry, of Sportsylvania, Virginia; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hopewell, with interment in Bermuda Memorial Park, Chester, Virginia.

Thomas J. McCoy
Thomas J. McCoy, Jr., age 47, of Droop, died Friday, February 8, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
The son of Ruth Workman McCoy and Thomas J. McCoy, Sr., he was born October 17, 1954.
He was employed with the CSX Railroad for twenty-five years.
Survivors include three sons, Tracy J. McCoy, of Fairlea, Mitch and Larry T. McCoy, of Waverly, Tennessee; a grandson; step-daughter, Dion Whitt; mother and stepfather, Ruth and Red McCoy, of Fairlea; father, Thomas J. McCoy, of Droop; sister, Teresa Hodge, of Frankford; brothers, William McCoy, of Fairlea, and Ricky McCoy, of Charleston; grandmother, Genevieve McCoy, of Hillsboro;
Services were held Monday at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg by the Rev. Sonny Painter. Burial was at the McCarty Cemetery at Droop.

Clairce Jane Kidd Doss
Clairce Jane Doss, age 92, of Mallory, died January 28, 2002, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, Ohio, after a short illness.
Mrs. Doss was a homemaker and a member of Mallory Baptist Church.
She was born May 11, 1909, at Stotesbury, a daughter of the late Letcher M. and Olive Mariah Bennett Kidd.
In addition to her parents, those preceding her in death were her husband, Robert Doss; a son, Robert Doss, Jr.; a granddaughter, Donna Pack; a great-granddaugther, Denise Pack; a sister, Kathleen Toney; two brothers, Cyrus and Eugene Kidd.
Surviving her are a daughter, Betty Jo Windell Lester; a son, Kenneth Doss; two sisters, Margie Landis, of Marlinton, and Mary Cutlip, of Hillsboro; a brother, Leffort Kidd, of Hillsboro; ten grandchldren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the Mallory Baptist Church by the Rev. Zane Gray. Burial was at the Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny.
