Judy P. Vandevander
Judy Puffenbarger Vandevander, age 50, of Bartow, died Friday, September 6, 2002, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
She was a member of the Durbin Brethren Church.
The daughter of Betty Rexrode Puffenbarger, of Bartow, and the late James "Puffy" Puffenbarger, she was born January 6, 1952, in Marlinton.
Her father died February 17, 1997.
Surviving her are her mother; son, Michael D. Vandevander, of Martinsburg; two sisters, Tammy Puffenbarger, of Bartow, and Debbie Maxwell, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Durbin Brethren Church by the Rev. Donnie Curry and the Rev. John Riffe. Burial was in the Boyer Cemetery.

Kathryn Adkison Fawcett
Kathryn Adkison Fawcett, age 88, of Lewisburg, died Monday, September 2, 2002, at her home following a long illness.
Born June 27, 1914, in Marlinton, she was the daughter of the late Emory Hoover and Lillian Blethen Adkison.
She was a member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church and a member and officer of the Lewisburg Chapter No. 108, Order of the Eastern Star.
She was retired from the West Virginia school system with 24 years of service as a cook and dietitian in Lewisburg schools as well as Marshall University cafeteria.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 65 years, Julian Fawcett; a daughter, Priscilla Fawcett; a son, Sgt. Victor Fawcett; three sisters, Hallie Martin, Bernice Hodges, and Marie Ginn; and two brothers, Ret. Col. Emory Adkison and Ira Adkison.
Survivors include four daughters, Dianne Hinkle, of Lewisburg; Carrol Carle, of Westerville, Ohio; Kathryn Cruse, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Rebecca Bailey, of Nashville, Tennessee; two sons, Julian P. Fawcett, of Lewisburg, and Nathen Fawcett, of Mishawaka, Indiana; a sister, Nancy Cochran, of Roanoke, Virginia; a brother, the Rev. Preston Adkison, of Rock Port, Texas; fourteen grandchildren and nine-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday in the Memorial Chapel of McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg by the Rev. Patricia Jarvis and the Rev. Julian Sulgit.
Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery at Marlinton.

George McCune
George McCune, age 47, of Belmont, died Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at the Ohio State University Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born November 27, 1954, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Rev. George W. and Virginia Helmick McClure.
He was a member of the St. Marys United Methodist Church and had worked at Cytec Corporation, Willow Island.
Surviving him are a daughter, Ashleigh, and a son, Christopher, of St. Marys; two sisters, Rebecca Daniel, of Parkersburg, and Sarah Starr, of Upper Arlington, Ohio; and three brothers, Wes McCune, of Alexandria, Virginia, Larry McCune, of Parsons, and Jim McCune, of Scott Depot.
A memorial service was held at the St. Marys United Methodist Church Saturday with the Rev. Jim Kelly officiating.

Teresa E. Jordan
Teresa E. Jordan (Crisco), age 44, who lived on the Luster Shrader Road, Marlinton, died Sunday, September 8, 2002, at Charleston Area Medical Center.
She was a waitress and a member of the Baptist Church
Born March 17, 1958, she was the daughter of Frieda Anderson Crigger and the late Thurman Sluss, Sr.
In addition to her father, a daughter, Shannon Nelson, is also deceased.
She is survived by her husband, John Robert Jordan; her mother, Frieda Anderson Crigger, of Asheboro, North Carolina; four daughters, Tefanie McCoy and Carrie Nelson, both of Hillsboro, Rita Pritt, of Richwood, and Melody Rogers, of Elton, Virginia; three sisters, Gerri Crigger, of Greenville, North Carolina, Lorna Blevins, of Princeton, and Marchelle Munson, of Aspen, Pennsylvania; four brothers, Thurman Sluss and Jeffrey Sluss, both of Asheboro, North Carolina, and Roy Crigger and Randy Crigger, both of Sayre, Pennsylvania; and six grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Wednesday at VanReenen Funeral Home by the Rev. Phyllis Cox.

Noriene D. Gottschalk
Noriene D. Gottschalk, age 87, of Hillsboro, died Friday, September 6, 2002, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Virginia.
A native of Canada, she was born June 23, 1915, the daughter of the late Frank and Clara Schultz Day.
Her husband, Kenneth, is deceased.
She is survived by a daughter, Sue Gottschalk, of Glendora, California; a son, Richard Gottschalk, of Strongsville, Ohio; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Gloria McQuain McDonald
Gloria McQuain McDonald, age 76, of White Sulphur Springs, died Monday, September 9, 2002, at Greenbrier Valley Hospital.
She was born at Dunmore May 1, 1926, the daughter of the late Charles and Santha Lough McQuain.
Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Neola Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. McDonald, her parents, and three brothers, Charles McQuain, Elvin McQuain, and Neal McQuain.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Taylor Mason, of Inwood, and Connie Taylor White, of White Sulphur Springs; brother, Robert McQuain, of Forest Hill, Maryland; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 11 at VanReenen Funeral Home by the Rev. Jamie Estep, with burial in Mountain View Cemetery.

Dr. Allen Dale Pugh
Dr. Allen Dale Pugh, age 85, a resident of Bridgewater Retirement Village in Bridgewater, Virginia, died Sunday, September 8, 2002.
A son of the late Rev. J. W. and Milda Gregg Pugh, he was born on March 18, 1917, at Durbin.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic. Dr. Pugh graduated from Bridge-water College, Bethany Seminary in Elgin, Illinois, and received his doctorate from Florida State Christian's School.
Dr. Pugh pastored in southwest Virginia, West Virginia, Roanoke, Virginia, and Summit Church of the Brethren in Augusta County prior to retiring in 1985. He was a member of Bridgewater Church of the Brethren.
On June 6, 1946, he married Katherine Rexrode Pugh, who preceded him in death on October 21, 1991.
Surviving are two daughters, Pat Schronock, of Miami, Florida, and Wanda Hamilton, of Massanutten Village in McGaheysville, Virginia; two granddaughters; two brothers, Clyde Pugh, of Bridgewater, and Fred Pugh, of Boyer; and one sister, Thelma Crummett, of Bridgewater Home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Lantz Chapel at Bridgewater Home with Rev. Robert Alley officiating.
Graveside services were held Wednesday afteroon at Arbovale Cemetery with Rev. David Rittenhouse officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgewater Home in his memory.

E. Guy Wright
Evangelist E. Guy Wright died June 25, 2002, at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tennessee, after a short illness.
He was an ordained minister with the Church of The Nazarene for 53 years and pastored many churches, including several in West Virginia. He was also a commissioned evangelist and closed his last revival in June, 2002, in Winchester, Virginia. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II.
Rev. Wright will be remembered by many in Pocahontas County; he preached revivals at Frank and Marlinton Nazarene Churches, Mountain Grove, Virginia Methodist Church, and White Pines Holiness Camp Meeting at Arbovale.
Surviving him are his wife, Betty Greene Wright; daughter, Stephanie Cuddy, of Teays Valley, son, Stephen Guy Wright, of Gordonsville, Tennessee; stepchildren, Sherry Wright and William Costner, both of Linville, North Carolina, Morgan Costner, of Crossnore, North Carolina, and Ricky Costner, of Granite Falls, North Carolina; sisters, Donna Jean Lorenzo and Doris Byers, both of Greenville, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
Services were held June 28 at Winfield Church of The Nazarene with the Rev. John T. Hayes officiating. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane.
