Barbara A. McLaughlin
Barbara A. McLaughlin, age 40, of Marlinton, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital.
Miss McLaughlin was self-employed as a Day Care operator.
Born July 15, 1963, at Marlinton, she was the daughter of the late James D. and Bertie M. Lott McLaughlin.
She is survived by a sister, Carolyn S. Hamilton, of Marlinton, and a brother, Michael McLaughlin, of Lewisburg.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at VanReenen Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Moore. Burial was in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given to help pay her medical expenses.

Madeline Sparks Shreve
Madeline Sparks Shreve, age 67, of Buckeye, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Virginia.
She was Dietitian Manager at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital and was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church and also a charter member of Huntersville Baptist Church.
The daughter of the late Roy Jonah and Letha Pringle Sparks, she was born at Campbelltown July 5, 1936.
Surviving her are her husband, Frank Shreve; two daughters, Cynthia Elizabeth Louise Shreve Morrison, of Buckeye, and Susan Jean Shreve Galloway, of Marlinton; a son, Todd Jonah Shreve, of York, Pennsylvania; five sisters, Ruth Lanneum, of Waco, Texas, Thelma Shoemaker and Helen Jackson, both of Elkins, Frances White, of Elyria, Ohio, and Mildred Sue Bradford, of Cocoa Beach, Florida; a brother, David Sparks, of Marlinton; five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Samuel Sparks, Roy Jonah Sparks, Jr., and Carl Sparks.
Her funeral was held at Trinity Baptist Church on Saturday afternoon by the Rev. Betty Shields. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery.

Evelyn Mae Richmond
Evelyn Mae Richmond, age 90, formerly of Durbin, died July 24, 2003, in La Plata, Maryland.
She was born June 21, 1913, at Durbin, the daughter of Charles and Sylveta Curtis.
Mrs. Richmond was a member of Rebecca Order of the United Methodist Women and of Good Shepherd United Metho-dist Church, New Beginnings.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Terry Jesse Richmond; two brothers, Gray and Kyle Curtis; four sisters, Ruth Perdue, Willa Davis, Ethel Vandevander, and Louella Lockridge.
She is survived by her children, Terry Jerald Richmond, of Issue, Maryland; Drema Love Fuller, of La Plata, Maryland, and Rebecca Diane Sutphin, of St. Albans; a sister, Thelma Ford, of Beckley; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Beckley by Pastor Stephen Rector. Burial was in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Eda L. Beard
Eda L. Beard, age 97, a resident of Pocahontas Center, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at the Center.
The daughter of the late Forrest L. Beard, Sr., and Mary Rachel Clark, she was born in Mingo County September 22, 1905.
She was a Presbyterian.
A brother, Forrest L. Beard, of Lewisburg, survives.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Laura and Mary; and six brothers, Luther Beard, Ryce Beard, Warren Beard, Clarence Beard, Clara Beard, and Sterret Beard.
Graveside services were held in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Hillsboro by the Rev. Lucy Youngblood.
