Icie Mae Sharp
Icie Mae Sharp, age 85, of Marlinton, died Saturday, September 27, 2003, in Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.
A native of Cass, she was born May 25, 1918, the daughter of James Henry and Nora Kelley McLaughlin.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Arthur Sharp; a sister, Donie McLaughlin; brother, James Dice McLaughlin; and a grandson, Kevin McCarty.
She is survived by two daughters, Goldie M. Adams and Mary F. McCarty, both of Marlinton; two grandsons whom she helped raise, Ricky L. Bennett, of Marlinton, and Daniel W. Bennett, of Delray, and another grandson, Richard A. McCarty; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday morning at Cochran Cemetery by the Rev. Bob Mann.

Dewey Howard Cain
Dewey Howard Cain, age 38, of Rt. 2, Marlinton, died Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
The son of Geraldine Rider Cain, of Marlinton, and the late Kenneth O. Cain, he was born June 7, 1965, at Marlinton.
He had been disabled for several years, and was a former "green chain" sawmill worker. He was a member of the Nazarene Church.
Surviving him are his mother; three sisters, Debbie Schoolcraft and Carolyn Garretson, both of Buckeye, and Carrie Shirkey, of Marlinton; and three brothers, Robert L. Rider and Kenneth W. Cain, both of Stafford, Virginia, and Richard A. Cain, of Marlinton.
Funeral services were held Sunday at VanReenen Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Moore, with burial in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Junior C. Patton
Junior C. Patton (Carlile W. Patton, Jr.), age 66, of Hillsboro, died Saturday, September 27, 2003, at home at Mill Point.
He was the son of the late Carlile W. Patton, Sr., and Ada Maye Bryson Patton, born April 13, 1937 at Meadow Creek.
His parents, two sisters, Joy Patton and Lennie Varner, and a brother, Oscar Ward, preceded him in death.
Surviving him are three sisters, Betty Lovelace, of Thomasville, North Carolina, Dorothy Tyree, of Trinity North Carolina, and Sue Conley, of Buckeye; and two brothers, Elmer Dalton, of Hinton, and Donald Gene Barkley, of Denton, North Carolina.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at VanReenen Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Mann, with burial in the Buckeye Cemetery.
