Goldie Sharp McCarty
Goldie Sharp McCarty, age 91, of Frost, died Tuesday, August 24, 2004, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of the Frost United Methodist Church.
The daughter of Ashby and Vinnie Tyler Sharp, she was born at Frost March 1, 1913.
She was the wife of Dewey S. McCarty, who preceded her in death. Also deceased are two sons, Samuel H. McCarty and John W. McCarty, and three sisters, Lena Moore, Vesta Saville, and Lillian Ruckman.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald G. McCarty and Alan W. McCarty, both of Frost.
Funeral services were held at the Frost United Methodist Church on Friday afternoon by the Revs. David Rittenhouse and Tom Hill. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery.

Carol D. Pendleton
Carol D. Pendleton, of Droop, died Sunday, August 29, 2004, at home.
Mrs. Pendleton was a nurse's aide and a Baptist.
Born in Pennsylvania February 20, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Hester Clutter Adkison.
She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Pendleton; two sons, Mike Blake, of Droop, and Robert Pendleton, Jr., of Virginia; sisters, Margaret Brown, of Ohio, and Ester Lee Hanna, of Lewisburg, and adoptive sisters, Linda S. Doss, Marlinton, and Patsy Mason, Hillsboro; five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at VanReenen Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Moore. Burial was in the McCarty Cemetery.

George Alfred Callison
George Alfred "Al" Callison, age 83, of Hillsboro, died Friday, August 27, 2004, in Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.
The son of the late Homer L. and Mary Corder Callison, he was born in Cloverhill, Virginia, July 11, 1921.
He was a bridge repairman and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, and was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Hillsboro.
He was preceded in death by his uncle and aunt who raised him, James K. and Nannie Callison Marshall, his parents, and a brother, Glenn W. Callison.
Mr. Callison is survived by his wife of 51 1/2 years, Debeorah L. Landers "Debbie" Callison; three daughters, Jolene D. Weigel, of Manassas, Virginia, Jacqueline A. Callison, of Union Bridge, Maryland, and Lea M. Burden, of Greeley, Colorado; a brother, H. L. Callison, of Monterey, Virginia; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Phyllis Cox, with burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Fleeta Susie Friel Roberts
Fleeta Susie Friel Roberts, age 54, of Renick, died Monday, August 23, 2004, at her home.
She was a graduate of Marlinton High School and was a nursing assistant.
Born September 23, 1949, at Clawson, she was the daughter of the late Perry Vernon Friel and Sallie Smith Friel.
Also preceding her in death were her husband, Thurmon "Tick" Roberts, three brothers, Ralph Friel, Warren Friel, and an infant brother, and one sister, Vera Kathleen Friel.
Mrs. Friel is survived by a sister, Nancy F. Galford, of Hillsboro, and nephews and great-nephews.
Graveside services were held Saturday afternoon, August 28, at Ellis Chapel Cemetery near Renick by Pastor Bryan Treadway.
