Ava Guthrie

Ava Guthrie, age 92, of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at the Springs Nursing Home in Hot Springs, Virginia.

Born December 31, 1918, at Cass, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Cora Stonebreaker Guthrie.

Ava retired in 1982 as an Executive Secretary with the Pocahontas County Board of Education. She was a member of the South Covington United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters; and a nephew, Thomas Wiseman, Jr.

She is survived by a nephew, John Carr, of Maryland; three great-nieces, Jennifer Knick, and husband Dewey, of Covington, Virginia, Julie Coffman, and husband, Keith, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Sarah Wiseman, of Brandywine, and Todd Moody, of Covington; two great-nephews, Chris Wiseman, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, and Travis Wiseman, of Morgantown; great-great-nieces and nephews, Steven Moody, Brandi Clark, Matthew McCallister, Emily Moody, Kristian Wiseman, Miles McCallister, Dylan Wiseman, Daniele Wiseman, Landon Wiseman, Savanna Wiseman and Joslin Wiseman; great-great-great-nieces and nephews, Malayah Allen, Isabella McCallister, Kolten Moody and Kiercyn Clark.

Funeral service was February 5 at Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brant Hays officiating. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery.
