Walter Alderman, age 73, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011, at his home.

Born January 5, 1938, he was a son of the late Bedford Walter Alderman and Sarah Sally Combs Alderman.

Walter was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired construction worker. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Elizabeth Alderman; three daughters, Tammie Lynn Alderman, and son, Matthew, Lisa Lea Alderman, and son, Jeremiah, and Traci Elizabeth Alderman, and son, Joshua; a son, Andrew Walter Alderman, and wife, Angie, and two daughters, Audrey and Abbie; two sisters, Mabel Rider, and Levia McLaughlin; two brothers, Calvin Alderman and Woody Alderman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Madge Lee; and four brothers, Dallas Alderman, Alex Alderman, Lewis Alderman and Bill Alderman.

Memorial service is Tuesday, February 15, 2 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home with Norman Alderman officiating.
