Richard "Dick" Eddy, age 76, of Marlinton, passed away peacefully at the Sunbridge Nursing Home, Saturday, February 19, 2011.

Born February 2, 1935, at Core, he was a son of the late Ralph and Goldie Eddy.

Dick retired from Allegheny Power Company in 1995 after 39 1/2 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Hamman; and a brother, Paul Eddy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joann Eddy; a son David Eddy, and wife, Theresa, of Reedsville; a daughter, Carolyn Beverage, and husband, Mark, of Parkersburg; a son-in-law, David Hamman, of Snowshoe; six grandchildren, Brian Beverage, and wife, Amy, of Albany, New York, Kim Beverage and Brian Parrish, of Columbus, Ohio, Josh Eddy and Jacob Eddy, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jessica Stump, and husband, Brian, Derek Hamman, all of Marlinton; two great-grandchildren, Corey Beverage and Breanna Beverage; someone whom he thought of as a son, Richard Morgan, and wife, Wanda, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and two sisters, Evelyn Varner, of Cameron, and Helen Shaffer, of Houston, Texas.

VanReenen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. At Dick's request no visitation will be held.

A memorial service is Saturday, February 26, 11 a.m. at the Marlinton United Methodist Church with Revs. Robert Mann and Betty Shields.
