Ronald D. Tibbs

Ronald Dexter Tibbs, age 60, of Marlinton, died Monday, March 14, 2011, at home.


Born December 8, 1950, in Lynchburg, Virginia, he was a son of Lois Ischer Tibbs, of Marlinton, and the late J. Everette Tibbs.


Ron was a 1969 graduate of Marlinton High School and attended Marshall University.


He was employed by R. S. Burruss Lumber Company in Marlinton and Pamplin, Virginia, and was a former Mill Foreman and Superintendent of W. M. Cramer Lumber Company in Marlinton. He was a Master Electrician, farmed for many years and was always willing to help his friends and neighbors.


Ron was a member of the Marlinton United Methodist Church, served on the Pocahontas Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and was a former member of the Pocahontas Development Authority.


In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Jay E. Tibbs, and wife, Sandra, of Winchester, Virginia; a brother, Jack E. Tibbs, and wife, Nancy, of Lynchburg, Virginia; two sisters, Nancy T. Martin, and husband, Jim, and Shirley F. Tibbs, all of Marlinton; two grandchildren, Reagan Elizabeth and Reese Elliott Tibbs, of Winchester, Virginia.


The family will receive friends Friday, March 18, 7 - 9 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home in Marlinton.


Funeral service will be Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m. at the Marlinton United Methodist Church with Pastors Bob Mann and Larry Gamble officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
