Jack Neal Wimer

Jack Neal Wimer, age 78, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Born June 25, 1932, at Blue Grass, Virginia, he was a son of the late Howard Murrill Wimer, Sr. and Mary Brock Wimer.

Jack served in the United States Navy on the Amber Jack Submarine. He was a Virginia State Trooper for eight years, lifelong farmer in the Melrose community and a member of the Front Royal United Methodist Church. He was very dedicated to his family and a very loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Jean T. Wimer, whom he married March 2, 1957; two daughters, Kathy Layman, and husband, Ronnie, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Lisa Arbogast, and husband, Tom, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; a son, Jackie Wimer, Jr., and wife, Shirley, of Harrisonburg, Virginia; two brothers, Tom Wimer, and wife, Winnie, of Front Royal, Virginia, and Howard Wimer, Jr., and wife, Peggy, of White Post, Virginia; six grandchildren, Aaron Layman, Bethany Arbogast, Galen Arbogast, Cole Arbogast, Emily Wimer and SharLee Crummett; a great-granddaughter, Chillie Rees; and extended family, Fernando, Tania, Fernando, Jr., Saul, and Lexy Manriquez.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, March 29, 7 -8 p.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service is Wednesday, March 30, 11 a.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Revs Curtis Hensley and Wendell "Sonny" Henkel officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
