Carole P. Young
Carole Parris Young, of Dunmore, died Monday, April 11, 2011, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born November 11, 1946, at Easton, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Paul Everett Parris and Ann Littleton O'Brien.
Carole graduated from Towson State University in June 1968 and moved to Pocahontas County, where she and her husband have lived for the past 43 years. She taught fourth grade at Green Bank Elementary School and was a substitute teacher for several years. She also worked with the Reading is Fundamental program at Green Bank.
She was a member of the New Hope Church of the Brethren, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon.
She is survived by her husband, Charles William Young, of Dunmore; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Young, of Harrisonburg, Virginia; a son, David Andrew Young, of Washington, D. C.; a brother, Clarke Littleton Parris, of Austin, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, April 13, 6 - 8 p.m. at New Hope Church of the Brethren. Funeral service is Thursday, April 14, 11 a.m. at the New Hope Church of the Brethren with Revs. David Rittenhouse and Julian Rittenhouse officiating. Interment will be in the Arbovale Cemetery Annex.
