Norval E. Waugh

Norval E. Waugh passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at his home with his wife, Joyce Waugh, at his side.

Born at Marlinton, September 5, 1938, he was the son of

Gladys Mildred Dunbrack Waugh, of Buckeye, and the late Howard Oren Waugh.

He was a brilliant educator, photographer, husband, father and grandfather.

Norval graduated from Concord College and was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. He received his Master's Degree from the University of Virginia.

As Principal of Brentsville High School in Nokesville, Virginia, and Associate Superintendent of the Stafford County Schools, he was respected for his work with curriculum development and personnel policy, presenting his work at conferences throughout the United States. In retirement, he pursued a passion for photography and became a sought-after professional wedding photographer. He was an accomplished guitarist and passed his love of music on to his family.

In addition to his wife and mother, Norval is survived by his sister, Ann Meeks, and husband, Kenneth; daughters, Brenda Waugh, and husband, Christopher Quasebarth, and their children, Elexa, Dashiell and Jasper; Cathy Waugh, and husband, Kurt Quasebarth, and their children, Griffin, Madeline and Hollis; step-children Steve Aylor, and his wife, Cara, and their children Hannah and Parker, Angela Galyean, and husband, Rob, and their children, Hilton and Joshua, and Mark Aylor, and wife, Pam, and their daughter, Kelsey; his special niece, Jennifer Neal; and many other relatives, cousins, friends and neighbors.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. April 27 at Covenant Funeral Home Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Marlinton at a later date.
