Callie Mable "Tick" Hise, age 79, of Thornwood, died Saturday, May 14, 2011.

Born December 28, 1931, at Thornwood, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Edith Starks.

Tick was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She worked at the Durbin Manor and enjoyed caring for the patients. She loved to read, garden and shop for antiques. She had a great faith in the Lord and attended the Frank Church of the Nazarene. All who knew her loved her faith, generosity, sense of humor and willingness to help others. She will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Saloma "Sis" Vandevender; a son-in-law, Tom Gochenour; a sister-in-law, June Starks; and two brothers-in-law, Marvin Halterman and Gerald Vandevender.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Edward "Coon" Hise, of Thornwood; five children, Everette "Tim" Morris, of Thornwood, Diane Morris, of Frank, Holly Gochenour, of Mt. Sidney, Virginia, Ray Hise, of Thornwood, and Clay Hise, and wife, Laura, of Dunmore; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Alvin Starks, and wife, Rose, and Leo Starks, and wife, Phyllis, all of Three Rivers, Michigan, Oscar Starks, and Raymond Starks, and wife, Elsie, all of Mendon, Michigan; two sisters, Rita Halterman, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and Janet Whitmire, and husband, Chuck, of Wheeling; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, May 17, 6 - 8 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale. Funeral service is Wednesday, May 18, 2 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in the Arbovale Cemetery.
