Howard Dennis Beverage
Howard Dennis Beverage, age 95, of Marlinton, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital in Buckeye.
Born March 6, 1916, at Monterey, Virginia, he was a son of the late Jesse U. and Emma Lantz Beverage.
Howard was a retired employee of the International Shoe Company and Hanover Shoe Company. He also worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He attended the Central Union Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lee VanReenen Beverage; four brothers, Walter Beverage, Kenney Beverage, Paul Beverage and Roscoe Beverage; and a sister, Geneva Hefner.
He is survived by four sons, Layton Beverage, and wife, Kay, Roy Beverage, and wife, Evilene, Wayne Beverage, and wife, Pamela, all of Marlinton, and Bobby Beverage, and wife, Sandra, of Spotsylvania, Virginia; two brothers, Carl Beverage, of Richwood, and Lake Beverage, of Baltimore, Maryland; a sister, Viola Showalter, of Albany, Georgia; 11 grandchildren, Layton "Tony," and wife, Sandra, of Gloucester, Virginia, Charles "Chuck," and wife, Marilyn, of Marlinton, Michael, and wife, Christine, of Concord, North Carolina, Brian, and wife, Holly, of Marlinton, Andrew, of Midland, North Carolina, Jeffrey, and wife, Robyn, of Marlinton, Steven, and wife, Jackie, of Churchville, Virginia, Debra and Amber, of Marlinton, Kathy Sheppard, and husband, David, of Rhodesville, Virginia, and Penny Stacey, and husband, Bron, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, May 24, 6 -8 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home. Funeral service is Wednesday, May 25, 11 a.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Mann officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
