Shirley Frances Cook Brooks Morgan, age 73, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at her home.

Born January 16, 1938, at Maple Meadows, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Dewey and Lakey M. Baily Cook.

Shirley was a retired clerk for the country store and attended the Seebert United Methodist Church. Her greatest joy was making others happy. her smile is irreplaceable. Her legacy of love and kindness continues and has left a mark on many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen Cook and Oather Cook.

She is survived by her husband, Alvadore Morgan, of Hillsboro; two sons, Terry L. Brooks, of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Timmy R. Brooks, of Staunton, Virginia; a daughter, Susie Morgan, of Hillsboro; two sisters, Pat Jenkins, of Sinks Grove, and Josie Valencia, of Green Bank; two brothers, Buddy Cook, of Durbin, and Lonnie Cook, of Hagerstown, Maryland; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Monday, June 6, 6 - 8 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home. Funeral service is Tuesday, June 7, 1 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home with Pastor Kerry Workman officiating. Interment will be in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens in Lexington, Virginia, Wednesday, June 8, 1 p.m.
