James Alfred "Slick" McComb, Sr., age 82, of Marlinton, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at Nella's Nursing Home, Inc. in Elkins.
Born September 7, 1928, at Mill Point, he was a son of the late George Lockard and Christina George McComb.

James was a retired truck driver, a Navy veteran and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Grey McComb, a sister, Martha Reynolds, and a brother, Arnold McComb.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Christina McComb Morris, of Covington, Virginia; a son, James Alfred McComb, Jr., of Richmond, Virginia; two sisters, Loxie Corbett, of Eucid, Ohio, and Margaret Underwood, of Marlinton; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge, Virginia, on Wednesday, June 29, from 5 to 6 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Nicely Funeral Home Wednesday, June 29, at 6 p.m. with Grover Nicely officiating.
