Harper H. Galford

Harper H. Galford, age 85, of Green Bank, died Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Charleston Area Medical Center.

Born November 2, 1925, at Green Bank, he was a son of the late Glen and Ruth Hudson Galford.


Mr. Galford was a postmaster at Green Bank and retired after 40 years of service. He was also a farmer, school bus driver and a member of the New Hope Brethren Church. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of I. O. O. F. for many years and was a graduate of Green Bank High School Class of 1943.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.


He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Arbogast Galford; one daughter, Beverly Arbuckle, and husband, R. Houston, of Lewisburg; one granddaughter, Emily A. Arbuckle, of Lewisburg; a sister, Betty Kennison, of Niceville, Florida; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.


The Family will receive friends Wednesday, July 6, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale.
Funeral service will be Thursday, July 7, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace with the Revs. David Rittenhouse and Julian Rittenhouse officiating. Burial in Arbovale Cemetery with Military Honors by the Pocahontas County Honor Corps
