Mary Etta Tacy, age 85, of Beckley, formerly of Cass, died Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Born May 5, 1926, at Pocahontas County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Casper and Dewie Grace Slayton Nelson.

Mary was of the Methodist faith. She was a 1945 graduate of Green Bank High School. She was a retired store clerk and a nurse's aide.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Tacy; an infant son; a sister; and eight brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Bennett, of Beckley; a granddaughter, Lisa Bennett, of Beckley; a sister, Dollie Lewis, of Green Bank; and a brother, Ted Nelson, of Brunswick, Georgia.

As per her wishes, she was cremated and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
