Clarence Turner

Clarence "Darrell" Turner, age 61, of Stony Bottom, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at his home.

Born March 6, 1950, at Marlinton, he was a son of the late Lester "Stoney" and Geraldine "Gerry" Gum Turner.

Darrell was a former member and president of the Cass Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, a member of the Local #132 operating engineers for 25 years and a Public Safety Officer at Snowshoe Mountain Resort for more than 30 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Lough Turner; a daughter, Jannessa Turner, of Stony Bottom; two sons, Justin Turner, and wife, Erica, of Stony Bottom, and Wyatt Turner, of Nashville, Tennessee; a brother, Lester Marvin Turner, and wife, Pam, of Cass; an adopted sister, Patricia Long, of Slaty Fork; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family will receive friends Friday, August 19, 6 -8 p.m. at Alexander Memorial Presbyterian Church in Stony Bottom. A memorial service is Saturday, August 20, 11 a.m. at Alexander Memorial Presbyterian Church with Revs. David Bush and Dan Arbogast officiating.
