Jessie Lea Hiner, age 92, of Staunton, Virginia, formerly of Monterey, died Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Augusta Health.

Born March 28, 1919, in Dunmore, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Jackson and Sallie M. Williams Noel.

Mrs. Hiner was a member of Green Hill United Methodist Church and attended Monterey United Methodist Church.

She was a homemaker and had worked at Aileen, Inc. for 17 years. She liked to travel and was a member of Highland Senior Citizens.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Stuart Hiner, two sisters, Marie Losh and Rachel Gutshall; an infant brother, Samuel Noel; a step-brother, Franklin Noel, and a son-in-law, Bobby B. McCray.

She is survived by two daughters Carolyn H. McCray, of McDowell, Virginia, and Eleanore H. Rexrode and husband, Elbert, of Waynesboro, Virginia; a son, Ernest Lee Hiner, and wife, Peggy, of Waynesboro, Virginia; three grandchildren, Michael Blair McCray and wife, Tracey of McDowell, Virginia, Robert Stuart Hiner, of Swoope, Virginia, and Melanie H. Ross and husband, Phillip, of Waynesboro, Virginia; and two great-granddaughters, Kailey Ross and Natalee Ross.

Funeral service was Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, Virginia, with the Rev. Clayton Payne officiating.? Interment in the Monterey Cemetery.
