Catherine Blair Fenstermaker


Catherine Blair "Cat" Lambert Fenstermaker, age 73, of Mill Creek, died Thursday, August 18, 2011, at the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center in Elkins.

Born February 8, 1938, at Elk Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Chester L. and Leafie Bennett Lambert.

Catherine attended Pendleton County schools. She retired from the Randolph County Board of Education in 2000 with 20 years of service. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her dog, Lacy. She enjoyed walking, gardening and was a noted cook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Monroe Fenstermaker, Sr., whom she married April 30, 1960, at Monterey, Virginia; three brothers, Gale Lambert, Glenn Lambert and Harlan Lambert; a sister, Virginia Lantz; and a granddaughter, Rachel.

She is survived by seven children, John A. Lambert, and wife, Eva, of Circleville, Rita F. Moss, and husband, Kent, of Elkins, Bonnie G. Wood, and husband, Randy, and Betty J. Fenstermaker, all of Mill Creek, Judy A. Balducci, and husband, Steve, of Beaver Creek, Georgia L. Holbert, and husband, Travis, of Jimtown, and George M. Fenstermaker, Jr., and wife, Kathy, of Elkins; a brother, Harold Lambert, and wife, Ruth, of Elk Mountain; four sisters, Sylvia Mullenax, and husband, Bud, of Durbin, Bronda Vandevander, of Arbovale, Barbara Riggleman, and husband, Bob, of Fairborn, Ohio, and Helen Taylor, and husband, Delmar, of Mil Creek; 11 grandchildren, Jason, Christopher, Michael, Matthew, Courtney, Jacob, Lindsay, Joshua, Andrew, Aron and Dillon; and three great-grandchildren, Autumn, Donald and Sabrina.

Funeral service was August 22 at Lohr and Barb Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Marshall R. Williams and C. Frank Stanley officiating. Interment was in Brick Creek Cemetery in Huttonsville.
