Robert Lee "Bob" Puffenbarger, age 89, of Cool Ridge, died Saturday, August 20, 2011, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Born October 3, 1921, at Boyer, he was a son of the late William Edward and Alice Gertrude Lantz Puffenbarger.

Robert was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Cool Ridge Community Church. He had been a resident of Cool Ridge for the past 43 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Puffenbarger.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Eloise Jane Arbogast Puffenbarger; four children, Larry Robert Puffenbarger, of Ghent, Myrna Jane Loudermilk, and husband, Earl, of Clintonville, Thomas Eugene Puffenbarger, and wife, Gloria, of Rupert, and Ricky Lee Puffenbarger, and wife, Mary, of Ghent; a sister, Ella Mae Sheets, of Smoot; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorial service was August 26 at Wallace Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum with Rev. Ron Browning officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
