Martha Rexrode Carpenter, age 77, of Marlinton, died Friday, September 30, 2011, at Pocahontas Center in Marlinton.

Born October 16, 1933, at Boyer, she was a daughter of the late Ray and Violet Ware Rexrode.

Martha was a homemaker and had worked as a seamstress for the Marlinton Cleaners. She was a member of Central Union United Methodist Church and the Pocahontas Center Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sterl Carpenter.

She is survived by a son, Eugene Carpenter, of Marlinton; two sisters, Helen Carpenter, of Marlinton, and Catherine Callison, of Arlington, Virginia; a brother, Dale Rexrode, of Long Island, New York; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service is Monday, October 3, 1 p.m. at Central Union United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Mann officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery near Marlinton.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Central Union United Methodist Church.
