Jerry Galford
Jerry Galford, age 61, of Warren, Ohio, died Saturday, October 15, 2011, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown due to injuries from a motorcycle accident.
Born December 18, 1949, at Cass, he was a son of the late Raymond and Rachael Dunbar Galford.
Jerry was a Sergeant in the Warren City Police Department and retired after 30 years. He was a graduate of the Kent State Trumbull Campus Criminal Justice program and the Ohio State Patrol Academy. Before joining the police department he worked at Rockwell International in Newton Falls. He enjoyed races, motorcycle riding, watching football and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandson, Brayden.
He served in the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. After his discharge he moved to Warren where he met his wife, Tammy Smith, whom he married March 28, 1981.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Galford.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jessica Galford and Amanda Galford, both of Warren, Ohio; a grandson, Brayden Galford; brothers, Gary Galford and Bobby Galford, both of Richwood.
Funeral service was October 21 at McFarland and Son Funeral Home in Warren with Officer Timothy A. "Bear" Brown, FOP Chaplin officiating. Interment with full military and FOP honors was in Pine Knoll Cemetery.
