Howard Summers Rudd, age 68, of Hillsboro, departed this life on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

Born July 3, 1943, in Renick, he was a son of the late Howard William and Eskell Lewis Rudd.

Howard was a retired foreman for the CSX Railroad and a veteran of the Army and Navy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Rudd, Vernon Rudd and Vaughn Austin Rudd.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela Dawn Rudd, of Hillsboro; sisters, Anna Keene and Frances Kerns, both of Hillsboro, Velma Lewis, of Lexington, North Carolina, and Faye Tuncalp, of Palm Springs, California; brothers, Douglas Rudd, of Leavenworth, Washington, Dallas Rudd, of Marlinton, Darrell Rudd, Delbert “Tim” Rudd and Harold Stuart Rudd, all of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Shannan Rudd and Sydnie Harrah, of Hillsboro, and Samuel Brock, of Marlinton; companion, Betty Jo Rudd, of Hillsboro; and a special nephew, David Michael Brock, of Hillsboro.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
