Only business other than routine matters was school hours in Marlinton on trial basis for a month. Beginning Monday the Graded, Junior and High Schools will only have a half -hour for lunch, resuming school at 12:30 p.m. This allows the students to reach home earlier in the evening.
Weather
Lanty Underwood was in town Tuesday, with the excuse the weather was too bad for doing anything else so he came in to pay his subscription. Of course the only topic of conversation was the winter weather and he was of the opinion that this was one of the old timey kinds they “used to have.” He thought the worst one he could remember was along about 1906 or 1907, the winter of last big drive on Douthard's Creek. Winter set in about this time and the next six weeks were really bad. The loggers worked day and night to get the drive ready before the thaw and everyone was so tired that some would fall alseep at work. Even the horses fell from lack of rest. But the drive was ready when the floods came in February.
