The Pocahontas County High School band took second place at the October 9 Battle of the Bands A-Class competition at Elkins' Mountain State Forest in Elkins, just half a point behind first place Petersburg. The band won first place in a preview competition held September 11. The band is directed by PCHS music teacher Ryan Ullman and led by drum major Khristian Smith.
