The Pocahontas County High School band took second place at the October 9 Battle of the Bands A-Class competition at Elkins' Mountain State Forest in Elkins, just half a point behind first place Petersburg. The band won first place in a preview competition held September 11.

As the sound of train whistles echoed through the historic town of Cass Saturday, train, antique and fall enthusiasts gathered for Harvest Day.
Pulling into the lower parking lot, it was hard to miss the miniature train tracks and model trains near the river.
