Celebrate the month of luck with these fun filled activities at Snowshoe Mountain Resort.
Sure to leave all music festivals green with envy, the Homegrown Music Festival kicks off the monthメs activities on March 5 and 6.
Ice cold brews, live music and the official Homegrown games are on the agenda. On the 5th, grab your favorite drink at the Moonshine Pub and settle in for a night of music, beginning with the Hillbilly Gypsies at 5 p.m., followed by Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys at 7 p.m. The Big Top will host a local craft fair from 5 to 8 p.m.
The festivities kick into high gear on the 6th with more music and games.
The game schedule is: 12 p.m.- Corn Hold competition; 1 p.m.- bobbinメ for pigs feet; 2:30 p.m.- Homegrown eat off (a pepperoni roll eating contest); and 3 p.m.- cow milking contest.
Also at 3 p.m. is the beer can sculpting competition, which is exactly what it sounds like. Build your best beer can sculpture with no more than one case of beer. At least half of the project must be built in front of the judges. Some cans and duct tape will be provided.
At 4 p.m., be sure to get a front row seat for the male and female Daisy Duke contest. Channel the Duke boys favorite cousin and squeeze into your shortest denim shorts to win the crown of Homegrown Hottiest Hottie.
Musical performances are: 12 p.m., Lazy Man Dub Band; 2 p.m., No One Knows; 4 p.m., The Halftime String Band; 7 p.m., Vernメs Pot Oメ Chili; all at the Moonshine Pub; and 9:30 p.m., Lazy Man Dub Band at the Connection Nightclub.
The local craft fair at The Big Top will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
March 10 and 11 is the Burton Womenメs Camp, a snowboarding camp just for the ladies.
Snowboarders of all experience levels will work with top female instructors from the ski and snowboard school and a Burton female pro. The ladies will also be able to try out the newest female specific products from Burton.
Instead of hitting the beaches of Cancun for Spring Break, head to the mountain March 11 through 14 for Spring Break 2010.
Kermit the Frog may think it isnメt easy being green, but heメs never celebrated St. Patrickメs Day at Snowshoe. Put on your green garb and head for the mountain to let out the Irish in you.
Ending the month and the winter season is the Last Hurrah on March 27.
More live entertainment provides a soundtrack for the pond skimming extravaganza during the last weekend of ski season.
