Hop, Skip and Jump Away
Located in the former St. Brednanメs Catholic Church on the corner of Park Street and Randolph Avenue in Elkins, the Randolph County Community Arts Center is a haven for all things art, music and dance.
The 83-year-old building became the arts center in 2001 when the Catholic church moved to a new building.
The Great Hallメs main exhibit gallery hosts creations by individual artists and collaborative exhibits fill the walls with artistic expression. On the far end of the hall is the stage, where musicians from all over the world perform their melodic craft.
Leaving the Great Hall, classrooms and The Maxwell Gallery, named for the late Judge Robert E. Maxwell, complete the art center.
Along with exhibits and concerts, the arts center offers classes for budding artists. Patrons are taught by masters of their crafts in the fields of watercolor, pottery, dance and music.
Remnants of the buildingメs past life remain, including the pipe organ above the main entrance and frescoes on the apse behind the stage, add to the atmosphere of the building.
