Accident Reports - December 31, 2009

The following accident reports were filed in the Pocahontas County Sheriff's Office during the period December 8 to December 29:

December 5: Joshua R. Smith, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, was traveling north on Route 92 near Green Bank in a 1991 Chevrolet pickup during nighttime in snowy conditions. Smith lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the roadway, collided with a traffic sign, went over an embankment, into a field and rolled several times, coming to rest on the passenger side. The driver and passenger were both wearing seat belts and exited the vehicle through the back window.ᅠ No citation issued and no injuries reported. Investigated by Sergeant Brad Totten.

December 18: Nathan J. Collins, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was traveling east on Route 66 in a 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser, in snowy conditions, when he lost control going around a curve. The vehicle slid off the roadway and flipped over.ᅠ The driver and two passengers were uninjured. No citation issued. Investigated by Deputy Chris Cole.

December 23: Steven C. Zeitler was traveling north on Snowshoe Drive in a 2003 Ford Ranger during nighttime in cloudy conditions, when he lost control and ran into a guardrail. Zeitler was transported to Pocahontas Memorial Hospital by EMS for minor injuries. No citation issued. Investigated by Deputy Chris Cole.
