2009 had below average weather on all fronts

All weather measurements were on the minus side for 2009.

The mean temperature for the year was 46.5 degrees and that was 0.3 degrees below normal.

The most amazing statistic of the year was the highest temperature of the year was set on April 26 at 86 degrees! In addition, this record April 25 had a record high of 84 degrees and April 27 had a record high of 85 degrees.

In fact, April had five days in the 80s and that tied June and August. May had 3 days in the 80s and July only 1.

July was the coolest in 115 years of recordkeeping. With a mean of 62.1 degrees, that was 5 degrees below normal.

The lowest temperature was 17 below zero on January 17. Precipitation totaled 40.97 inches and that is 3.17 inches below normal.

Snowfall for the calendar year was 65.7 inches and 35 inches of that came in December. Annual snowfall at Bartow averages 68 inches. Thunder could be heard on 26 different days and that is below average.
