In five short months, Stony Bottom native Wyatt Turner has moved to Nashville, Tennessee, recorded six original songs and received offers from several record labels.

ﾓThings have been going miraculously,ﾔ Turner said. ﾓIﾒve spent probably a total of two weeks in the recording studio. I was able to pull off the vocals quickly and we had some of the best session players on the songs.ﾔ

Included in the songs was one of Turnerﾒs originals, triggered by his tryout on American Idol.

ﾓIn the first round, they loved me, then in the second round they said I had a great voice but was ﾑtoo countryﾒ for the show,ﾔ

Turner said. ﾓThat sparked the song ﾑIﾒm Too Country.ﾒﾔ
With enough songs for an EP, an extended demo, which would be for promotional use, Turner encountered a setback when he suffered a tear in his vocal chords.

ﾓThe doctors think one of the muscles ripped around my larynx,ﾔ he explained. ﾓItﾒs a long healing process. I also have a small polyp on my right vocal chord. If the polyp becomes a problem, it will have to be surgically removed. Iﾒm hoping it doesnﾒt come to that, but in the meantime, Iﾒm taking care of my voice.ﾔ

During his time in Nashville, Turner has made plenty of contacts and has worked with musicians and producers who have worked with the likes of Keith Urban, Garth Brooks and Trace Adkins.

The EP was put on hold because record labels prefer to see live performances as well as hear studio recordings before signing an artist.

ﾓOnce my voice comes back, weﾒll hold showcases for the record labels,ﾔ Turner said.

Turner isnﾒt the kind to let his illness deter his dream. His gone to the Internet, the place where he was essentially discovered, and uploaded songs and videos for his fans.

ﾓMy career has been launched by YouTube,ﾔ he said.
