Delayed delivery to Virginia subscribers reported
The circulation department of The Pocahonts Times receives several calls each week concerning late delivery of its weekly newspaper to certain areas of Virginia.
Most of the affected zip codes were previously served by a mail distribution center in Charlottesville, Virginia, which closed in the past year.
With the closure of the Charlottesville facility, mail that had been sorted there has been added to the volume of mail at the distribution center in Sandston, Virginia. This change has led to delays in delivery of newspapers and periodicals, and increases in the volume of complaint calls to the Consumer Affairs office, said a representative in the Postal Service Consumer Affairs office in Richmond, Virginia.
The Pocahontas Times staff labels and sorts the newspapers and transports them to the Marlinton Post Office each Wednesday afternoon.
In addition, the newspaper's management is constantly working with the Postal Service to assure timely service and we take our commitment to our subscribers very seriously. We encourage you to call The Pocahontas Times office at 304-799-4973 any time your paper is more than two days later than the normal delivery time.
The Times staff encourages affected Virginia subscribers to call the Postal Service Consumer Affairs office at 804-775-6313.
