Hebron Baptist Church hosting free movie nights

Looking to give the community a place to commune and enjoy a film, minister Paul Murdock and his wife, Lyla, began free movie night at Hebron Baptist Church in Green Bank.

モWe started it as a suggestion from some folks around who said thereメs not much to do on the first Saturday night,ヤ Paul said. モItメs always a family-friendly movie and just a get together for some fellowship, popcorn, hot chocolate, coffee and a movie.ヤ

The first Saturday of every month, the couple shows a film at the church, which can accommodate 40 people. If the film isnメt well attended, the Murdocks use the time to visit with those who do attend.

モOne evening, we had only one lady show up and she was interested in gardening,ヤ Lyla said. モShe had not been able to do it until now, so we gardened and we just throughly enjoyed visiting.ヤ

Along with the once-a-month movie night, the church will host several other events open to the community.

モOn the fifth Sunday, we have a sing and fellowship afterward,ヤ Paul said. モItメs not about being Baptist or Methodist or Presbyterian, itメs just about Christians getting together for fellowship and getting to know each other.ヤ

On February 26, the church will be joined for Sunday night worship by a youth mission group from North Carolina.

モOne of the young people will do a short message and they will do some music,ヤ Paul said. モWeメre looking forward to that.

This summer, several groups will come to help the church with Vacation Bible School as well as a possible dental clinic.
