July Weather
July started out hot and dry and ended warm and moist.
The dry weather of June continued until July and then rain showers and warmer temperatures brought a tropical rain forest climate for the rest of the month.
The average high temperature was 80.1ºand the average low was 59.6º. The mean of 69.9º was 2.8ºabove normal. The highest temperature was 89º on July 8 and I predict that will be the highest temperature for the year. The lowest temperature was 54º recorded on July 3 and July 12.
Rainfall was scattered throughout the county but the northern end generally had the most. My Bartow station had 4.23 inches which is actually 0.01 below normal. For some months the total precipitation is 23.86. Normal precipitation for the year to date is 27.07 inches.
On the evening of July 30 the town of Durbin had reports of three inches of rain in about one hour and hail that covered the ground like snow.
Thunder was heard on 12 different days.
