Spruce Knob Seneca Rocks Telephone Broadband Stimulus Project for Pocahontas County
Spruce Knob Seneca Rocks Telephone has begun construction on a broadband stimulus project for the Bartow, Durbin, Arbovale, Green Bank and Cass areas of Pocahontas County: SKSRT was awarded an $8.5 million grant to provide last-mile broadband service to residences and businesses in these areas. ER Excavating and Utilities, LLC and Gudenkauf Corporation are building the facilities in the Pocahontas County area. Mid-State Consulting, Inc. is the engineering firm overseeing the project. Employees from each of these companies will be working in the area for the duration of the project.
SKSRT is very excited to offer broadband services to Pocahontas County. SKSRT believes every customer has the right to excellent telecommunications service at an affordable price.
“At Spruce Knob Seneca Rocks Telephone we care about our customers," said Vickie Colaw, General Manager. "In today’s world, fiber optic connections are not considered a luxury, but a necessity. It has become a very important part of our infrastructure. We think our customers deserve the best technology available, regardless of whether they live in a rural or an urban area.”
This expansion of service by SKSRT will provide job creation for the county, not only during the construction phase, but upon completion of the project. Pocahontas County will benefit economically because of the project, as it is expected to last approximately three years and will bring increased revenue to many different businesses in the area. SKSRT will be opening an office in the Arbovale area in the near future to accommodate Pocahontas County residents.
SKSRT is a locally owned and operated telecommunications provider and has been in operation since 1972.
