Reduced rate Vaccination Clinic

The Humane Society of Pocahontas County and Dr. Amy’s Mobile Vet Service have partnered to offer reduced prices at a vaccination clinic to be held Saturday, February 2, at three locations around the county.

The Humane Society recently received a $1,000 grant from the Build-A Bear Foundation to be sued specifically to help lower the cost of vaccinations for pets in the county.

The Humane Society will help defray the costs of two of the most important vaccinations – rabies and distemper/parvo – at the February 2 clinics as well as at additional clinics with other area veterinarians this coming spring and summer.

Rabies vaccinations, normally $10, will be $7; the distemper/parvo shot which is regularly $25, will be $15.

The February 2 clinic will be held at the Rt. 66/28/92 intersection near Cass at 9 a.m.; the Marlinton Mini-Park at 11 a.m. and at the Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department at 1 p.m. Dr. Amy will have other vaccinations available at regular prices.

The society hopes lowering the distemper/parvo fee will encourage owners to get this added protection.  West Virginia is still having diagnosed cases, and the disease continues to have a very high mortality rate.

The mission of the Humane Society of Pocahontas County is to provide low-cost spay/neuter vouchers for residents' pets, thereby reducing the number of unwanted litters and abandoned animals, promote healthier pets through vaccination clinics like this one, and help, through education, to enhance the lives of pets in Pocahontas County.
