Urgent Winter Weather Message

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Pocahontas County.

This Watch is in effect from 1 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, February 24.

Freezing rain, sleet and snow may be expected with a possible ice accumulation of up to 0.02 inch.
An inch or more of snow is predicted, as well.

Winds will be out of the southeast at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Temperatures will be in the mid 20s.

Accumulation of ice on trees and wires could cause widespread power outages.

Motorists are encouraged to use extreme caution as ice and sleet will make the roadways very slick.
