The National Weather Service in Charleston has discontinued the Winter Storm Watch and upgraded it to a Winter Storm Warning for Pocahontas County - in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, March 5, through 1 a.m. Thursday.
Heavy, wet snow is expected with accumulations from six to 10 inches. Higher amounts are possible in the higher elevations.
Winds will be out of the north at 15 to 25 MPH with gusts up to 35 MPH.
Temperatures in the mid-to-upper 20s.
This Storm Warning is in effect for the following counties: Webster, Pocahontas and Randolph.
Heavy snow will make travel conditions extremely hazardous if not impossible. All unnecessary travel should be avoided.
If you must travel, drive at slower speeds and allow extra time to reach your destination. Keep your tank full of gas and carry an emergency survival kit including food, water and blankets.
