Magistrate Court
According to Magistrate Court records, the following individuals were either arrested or had activity in their cases.
Holly A. Starks, 30, of Elkins, was arrested August 6 on charges of petit larceny and burglary. Bond was set at $11,000.
Brian William Long, 29, of Marlinton, was arrested August 4 on charges of two counts of battery and destruction of property. Bond was set at $2,500. He is currently lodged at Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
Phillip Wayne Shinaberry, 20, of Cass, was arrested August 7 on charges of underage consumption and fleeing on foot. Bond was set at $1,500. He was released from jail August 9.
Jeremy Moore, 22, of Marlinton, was arrested August 7 on a charge of driving suspended/revoked for DUI. Bond was set at $1,000.
Jeremiah Powell, 28, of Hillsboro, was arrested August 7 on a charge of domestic battery, third offense. Bond was set at $15,000.
In Magistrate Kathy Beverage's court:
Brenda Nelson, 56, of Marlinton, pleaded guilty August 3 to a charge of driving under the influence, second offense. She was assessed a $1,000 fine, $160.80 in court costs and placed on six months home confinement.
Six counts of cruelty to animals, six counts of no rabies vaccine and two counts of failure to pay dog tax against Judy Hatley, 40, of Upper Glade, were dismissed August 3. Deputy Swisher could not be reached to review the files and, in the best interest of justice, the matter was dismissed.
Israel Shane Pritt, 39, of Marlinton, pleaded guilty August 3 to a charge of domestic battery. He was assessed a $250 fine, $160.80 in court costs and sentenced to 30 days jail with credit for time served. He was alloted six months to pay the fine and court costs.
Dalton Caleb Curry, 19, of Durbin, pleaded no contest August 3 to a charge of driving under the influence. He was assessed a $250 fine, $210.80 in court costs, $55 in additional fees and given credit for time served. He received six months unsupervised probation to expire February 3, 2011 for a charge of possession of a controlled substance, less than 15 grams. He was assessed $166.80 in court costs. A charge of reckless driving was dismissed per plea agreement.
John Bell, of Valley Bend, pleaded no contest August 5 to nine counts of timbering without a license. He was assessed a $2,250 fine and $1,447.20 in court costs
In Magistrate Janet Kershner-Vanover's court:
A charge of domestic battery, third offense against Christopher S. Harris, 41, of Marlinton, was transferred to circuit court August 15. He was placed on personal recognizance bond with day report supervision.
