Magistrate Court

According to Magistrate Court records, the following individuals were either arrested or had activity in their cases.

Travis Allen Rider, 23,ᅠ of Marlinton, was arrested September 23 on a charge of transferring/receiving stolen goods. Bond was set at $1,000.

Sammy Allen Sheets, 43, of Marlinton, was arrested September 27 for charges of driving suspended/revoked for DUI, driving under the influence, second offense, no proof of insurance, possession of a controlled substance, less than 15 grams and left of center. Bond was set at $6,600.

Malcolm Craig Watkins, 47, of Hillsboro, was arrested September 16 on a charge of driving suspended/revoked for DUI. Bond was set at $1,000.

Loletia Bennett, of Marlinton, was arrested September 30 on charges of battery and conspiracy. Bond was set at $1,000.

Kelsey Smith, of Marlinton, was arrested September 30 on a charge of conspiracy. Bond was set at $500.

Brittany Finley Rider, of Marlinton, was arrested September 30 on a charge of conspiracy. Bond was set at $500.

Kimberly Gay McDowell, 45, of Hillsboro, appeared in court September 27 on charges of driving suspended/revoked for non-DUI and no proof of insurance. Bond was set at $1,000.

David Hafler, 58, of Marlinton, was arrested September 30 on a charge of fraudulent schemes. Bond was set at $2,500.

Iva Fitzgerald, 63, of Hillsboro, was arrested September 30 on charges of two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Bond was set at $20,000.

In Magistrate Danith Miller's court:

Richard L. Hefner, II, 30, of Hillsboro, pleaded guilty to charges of negligent homicide and no proof of insurance. He was assessed a $550 fine, $321.60 in court costs and sentenced to 20 days suspended jail and orderedᅠ to 60 days Day Report.

Charges of breaking and entering and conspiring against Phillip Wayne Shinaberry, 20, of Cass, were transferred to circuit court October 1.

In Magistrate Kathy Beverage's court:

Jessica D. Friel, 25, of Cass, pleaded guilty September 30 to a charge of shoplifting. She was assessed a $100 fine, $160.80 in court costs, a $25 arrest fee and ordered to pay $50 in restitution.

Jeremy Moore, 22, of Marlinton, pleaded guilty September 30 to a charge of driving suspended/revoked for DUI. He was assessed a $100 fine, $160.80 in court costs, a $25 arrest fee and sentenced to 30 days suspended jail and placed on community corrections.

A charge of domestic battery against Jeffrey Carl Sharp, 50, Marlinton, was dismissed without prejudice September 30. The state failed to provide witnesses.
