No candidates yet for BOE
In the second week of the filing period for the May Primary Election, no one has filed to run for the Pocahontas County Board of Education.
Three seats, two of them representing the Southern District and one from the Central District, are open. Those seats are now occupied by board vice-president Ruth Taylor and members Tom VanReenen and Leslie Cain. No district can have more than two representatives on the board. The Northern District is represented by board president Kenneth Vance and the Central District by Margaret Worth. Vance and Worth were elected two years ago.
Only Amon Tracey has filed for the Central District County Commission seat. Tracey is a Democrat.
Democrat Brian Beverage has filed to run for County Surveyor.
Jeremy Bauserman has filed for Republican Senatorial Executive Committee and for the Pocahontas County Republican Executive Committee.
As of Tuesday afternoon, no one had filed to run for either the County Clerk or the Circuit Clerk positions.
Denise Campbell, of Elkins, has filed to run for House of Delegates. Campbell, a Democrat, joins incumbent Bill Hartman on the ballot. Mike Ross, the other incumbent, had not filed Tuesday afternoon.
State Senator Walt Helmick is still the lone candidate for that seat which represents eight counties.
The filing period ends January 30 at midnight.
