Milky, muddy water thrashed over weak banks early Monday morning as the Greenbrier River and its tributaries overflowed following Sunday night's torrential downpour.

Several roads in Durbin, Arbovale, Northfork, Cass and Dunmore were closed due to high water.

The field across from the Hermitage in Bartow was flooded and only a few patches of land remained visible. The water reached the seven foot mark at the bridge beside the motel.

Cows were confined to islands in pastures near Cass and the playground at School Days Preschool was completely under water.

Debris and mud carried by the high water covered areas of the roads in the upper end of the county.

County officials recommend that residents not travel unless it is imperative. ᅠDrivers should use caution on the roadways and never drive through standing water.
